COSTA AZZURRA

Le vacanze del periodo pasquale le trascorriamo sulla Costa Azzurra soleggiata.
Fra le sue più belle spiagge, Nizza, Cannes, Saint-Tropez. E’ terra ispiratrice apprezzata
dagli impressionisti, borghi caratteristici affascinanti e centri storici.
Nizza, con la famosa Promenade des Anglais e lo stile “Belle Époque” degli edifici.

Arriviamo nel Principato di Monaco, piccola città-stato, dove, finalmente, sostiamo:
qui, il Palazzo Reale e la Cattedrale dell’Immacolata Concezione ammiriamo.
Cattedrale dove Grace Kelly e Ranieri si sono uniti in matrimonio. Stupiti, il porto
vediamo, oltre al paesaggio sublime sottostante con ville, il mare, il porto.
Uno degli stati più antichi del mondo: è indipendente da duecento anni, pare.
Proseguiamo per Nizza, dove ci aspetta il nostro albergo, non distante dal mare.
La nostra stanza si trova al quarto piano: si dorme bene, niente rumore.
Convenzionato con la nostra struttura ricettiva, il ristorante è davanti al mare.
Menù: l’organizzazione, la serietà pasquale la fa scrupolosamente osservare:
riso e pesce, piselli e carote. Menù dietetico che diminuisce il pesare.
Sabato Santo: tour alle fabbriche di profumi di Grasse, nelle Alpi Marittime.
Compero bottigliette “en verre” con mughetto e gelsomino: fragranze delicatissime.
Pomeriggio: escursione al mare di Saint-Tropez, il guerriero romano che ha dato
il nome al luogo. Una buona cena piuttosto vegetale: lo abbiamo spesso ricordato.
Sulla strada, sorpassiamo sontuosi alberghi, il “Negresco” è uno di questi.
Poi, vediamo massi e scogli battuti da onde forti che non ti aspetteresti.
Pomeriggio: passeggiata sulla “Promenade des Anglais”, spiaggia larga e mare.
C’è il sole. Il clima è buono. Le onde sono spumeggianti e chiare.
Mattinata di Pasqua: a spasso per Nizza, specialmente, per l’Avenue Centrale.
Nizza è piena di bellezze e, anche qui, dimostra di presentarsi tale.
Nella vecchia Nizza, piccolo villaggio, in fondo al Cours Saleya, il pittore
Matisse ha lasciato la casa. Qui, nella tranquillità, ha trascorso ore ed ore
con la sua arte. Vicini al mare, stanno i giardini lussureggianti con la fontana.
Il centro vede boutiques, locali, divertimento, musei e cultura in Place Massena.
Sulla strada, il Presidente Pertini e la sua scorta: parla con un trasferito italiano.
Emozionante vedere da mezzo metro il nostro Presidente a cui bacerei la mano.
La sera, ci ritroviamo tutti nel ristorante covenzionato e teniamo l’ultima cena
perché domani mattina, torneremo alla volta dell’Italia: proviamo pena.

We spend the Easter holidays on the sunny Côte d’Azur.
Among its most beautiful beaches, Nice, Cannes, Saint-Tropez. It is an inspiring land appreciated
from the Impressionists, charming characteristic villages and historic centres.
Nice, with the famous Promenade des Anglais and the “Belle Époque” style of the buildings.

We arrive in the Principality of Monaco, a small city-state, where we finally stop:
here, the Royal Palace and the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception we admire.
Cathedral where Grace Kelly and Rainier were married. Amazed, the port
we see, in addition to the sublime landscape below with villas, the sea, the port.
One of the oldest states in the world: it has been independent for two hundred years, it seems.
We continue to Nice, where our hotel awaits us, not far from the sea.
Our room is on the fourth floor: you sleep well, no noise.
An agreement with our accommodation facility, the restaurant is facing the sea.
Menu: the organization, the Easter seriousness makes it scrupulously observed:
rice and fish, peas and carrots. Diet menu that reduces weight.
Holy Saturday: tour of the perfume factories of Grasse, in the Alpes-Maritimes.
I buy bottles “en verre” with lily of the valley and jasmine: very delicate fragrances.
Afternoon: excursion to the sea of Saint-Tropez, the Roman warrior who gave
the name of the place. A good rather vegetable dinner: we have often remembered this.
On the way, we pass sumptuous hotels, the “Negresco” being one of them.
Then, we see boulders and rocks beaten by strong waves that you would not expect.
Afternoon: walk on the “Promenade des Anglais”, wide beach and sea.
It’s sunny. The climate is good. The waves are bubbly and clear.
Easter morning: walking around Nice, especially the Central Avenue.
Nice is full of beauties and, even here, it proves to be so.
In old Nice, a small village, at the end of the Cours Saleya, the painter
Matisse left home. Here, in tranquillity, he spent hours and hours
with his art. Close to the sea are the luxuriant gardens with the fountain.
The center sees boutiques, clubs, entertainment, museums and culture in Place Massena.
On the road, President Pertini and his body guardes: talk to an Italian transferee.
Exciting to see our President from half a meter whose hand I would kiss.
In the evening, we all meet in the partner restaurant and have the last supper
because tomorrow morning, we will go back to Italy: let’s feel sorry for it.
