(Estate 1969)

Siamo ospiti nella casa del collega del padre
della fidanzatina di mio fratello. La madre,

il padre e la ragazzina
mi aspettano nella stazioncina.

Mi vengono regalati fiori, colti
nelle vicinanze e rispondo con molti

ringraziamenti per il gentile omaggio.
La casetta si trova a breve raggio:

è un bilocale in zona tranquilla, al primo piano.
Entrata sala-angolo cottura con, anche, un divano

a due piazze, porta-finestra, sedie e tavolo.
Bagno capiente a forma di rettangolo.

Camera da letto con una finestra,
un letto matrimoniale e un divano-letto, a destra.

Conosciamo il vicino scherzoso
che si atteggia a gigolo’ spiritoso.

15 agosto 1969: visitiamo i Giardini Botanici
(ormai, siamo tutti amici)

del Parco Pallavicino di Stresa.
Per cui ci serviamo del battello e partiamo da Lesa.

Grande cura del verde e dei fiori
bellissimi che hanno una varietà di colori.

Nel 1855, viene eretta la villa di stile neoclassico
che si erge sulla collina: uno stile ormai storico.

Nel suo parco trovano posto splendide razze animali
e, dal 2017, nelle Borromee, parco e bestiole sono “addizionali”.

Gli amici e mio fratello tornano a Milano
e io rimango sola e felice nella casetta al primo piano.

Percorro un sentiero per recarmi alla spiaggia.
Si tratta di una stradina che costeggia

ville e casette, sul lago, nel quale si specchiano
il cielo azzurrissimo, le colline, le barche che passano, …

Lesa: cittadina turistica bellissima
dove trascorro giorni di gioia dolcissima.

LESA
(Summer 1969)

We are guests in the father’s colleague’s house
of my brother’s girlfriend. The mother,

the father and the little girl
they are waiting for me in the station.

Flowers are given to me, picked
nearby and I answer with many

thanks for the kind gift.
The house is located within a short radius:

it is a two-room apartment in a quiet area, on the first floor.
Entrance hall-kitchenette with, also, a sofa

double, French door, chairs and table.
Spacious bathroom in the shape of a rectangle.

Bedroom with a window,
a double bed and a sofa bed, to the right.

We know the playful neighbor
who poses as a witty gigolo.

August 15, 1969: we visit the Botanical Gardens
(by now, we are all friends)

of the Pallavicino Park in Stresa.
So we use the boat and leave from Lesa.

Great care of greenery and beautiful flowers
that have a variety of colors.

In 1855, the neoclassical style villa was built
which stands on the hill: a now historic style.

In its park there are splendid animal breeds
and, since 2017, in the Borromean area, park and beasts are “additional”.

Friends and my brother return to Milan
and I remain alone and happy in the little house on the first floor.

I walk along a path to go to the beach.
It is a small road that runs alongside

villas and houses, on the lake, in which they are reflected
the blue sky, the hills, the passing boats, …

Lesa: beautiful tourist town
where I spend days of the sweetest joy.
